vspider: Spidering External Web Sites

Vspider that ships with CF is only licensed for LOCALHOST spidering and file walking.  This in itself is not so bad.

Licensing Options

The spider's file walking features are available with all licensing options. The file walking functionality allows the spider to walk through any files available on the network (files listed in your File Manager or UNIX shell).

Licensing options for the Verity spider control the behavior of the GUI and command-line spider, as described below.

Option Description
Web spidering of local host (default) The spider web crawls the local host (must be the host machine for Information Server), following links along the way.
Web spidering of the default domain The spider web crawls the default domain (the domain for the local host), following links along the way.
Web spidering of remote sites The spider web crawls remote web site. With this option enabled, the GUI spider is limited to indexing a single domain at a time.
Contact Verity direct (http://www.verity.com/) for pricing information on additional licensing - I have no idea!
